Treating & Relieving PMS
A large percentage of women who are experiencing premenstrual syndrome or PMS are consulting traditional and alternative health practitioners.
A research study conducted recently showed that women who are getting alternative treatment for their PMS symptoms are getting adequate and effective relief. And the medical community should accept the fact that alternative treatments work a lot better than medical interventions.
A survey conducted recently specified that approximately 42% of the women suffering from PMS generally take prescription OTC medications to alleviate pain and other symptoms.
Effective treatment methods
Conventional treatments may take a little longer to relieve the symptoms, but they are more effective than the medical interventions.
Mostly doctors prescribe diuretics, painkillers, and sleeping pills to just suppress the symptoms. A lot of side effects are also associated with such medicines and then other medicines are required to overcome the side effects.
There are various traditional interventions to treat PMS, but there is no certified treatment that is discovered to cure PMS yet. Some women also seek psychotherapy to relieve their symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.
Prevention is better than cure
As we all know that prevention is better than cure and there are a lot of ways with which we can prevent the symptoms of PMS. And exercise is one of the best methods to prevent such symptoms.
Extensive exercise is not necessary, but you can engage yourself in enjoyable physical activities like swimming, walking, jogging, aerobics, aqua aerobics, dance, and etc.
Dietary changes can also dramatically alleviate the symptoms of PMS. Stop eating junk food along with alcohol, tobacco, sugar, excess soy intake, and dairy products. While eliminating bad eating and drinking habits, start taking healthy food and fruits, such as organic vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
With healthy dietary modifications, you should also try alternative relaxation therapies to reduce symptoms of stress, depression, and anxiety. There are several relaxation methods and therapies such as roll breathing, yoga, massage therapy with the help of essential oils, and aroma therapy.
Light therapy may also provide relief. Recent research has shown that exposing the body to natural and full spectrum light while experiencing PMS symptoms may decrease the harshness of the symptoms.
Chiropractic and acupuncture treatments
Most of the women suffering from PMS are reverting to chiropractic and acupuncture treatments and are deferring allopathic drugs.
Clinical studies have proven that a combo chiropractic and soft tissue treatment has effectively helped women suffering from PMS symptoms. The above mentioned combo treatment has helped in alleviation of back pain, abdominal cramping and dysmenorrheal and is getting very popular nowadays.
The treatments and therapies mentioned above are not considered as the certified or standard treatments for PMS. Almost all of them are very helpful in relieving all the symptoms and moreover they are not painful in anyway and are very ell-tolerated by the patients.
